YES, absolutely! We highly encourage all family members that can attend, to be there for the consultation and ask questions. Both parties need to assess that we are a good fit for each other. Hourglass Estate Sales need to access your property and belongings to make sure we can accommodate your timeline, goals and expectations. During this visit we will present our applicable fees and optional services that we offer. We will also bring the contract for your review.

During our free consultation, we will go through your home and property and decide if there is enough to do an estate sale. Hourglass Estate Sales understands the goals of an estate sale, and we tend to take on smaller estate sales to help families get to the next step with their home and property. Shoppers are not only looking for antique, vintage and collectables, they also purchase items that save them money (spices, food storage, toiletries, gardening tools, clean supplies etc.). Ultimately, we offer services that can take your home and property that is full and can liquidate items and clear it out, to prepare for the next step. 

We offer clean out, haul-away, and deep cleaning services for an additional fee. Debbie Glass is also a Real Estate Agent. If you are looking for an agent to sell your property once the estate sale is complete and the home is empty, Debbie offers some of the additional estate sale services at no charge and they are included in her services as your “listing agent”.

When pricing vintage or antiques, we use several different methods. We use reversal Google imaging and also an app called “Curio”. We also have local experts that we bring in as needed for collections, tools, books, etc. We contract regularly with a few  different guys about specialty tools, shop items, equipment, auto parts etc. for their expertise with knowledge and pricing. We have resources for vinyl records, glassware, books, art and other vintage collectables. 

Our experience also is a valuable resource for pricing every day or common items and we try to not overprice items knowing we have a 2-4 day timeline to liquidate the items. We also discuss valuable items with family once we do the research and pricing, to get final approval before deciding on a sales price. As we discount those items in the final days, we also consult with family about a “firm” price if requested. We understand the important heritage of your family’s legacy that we represent and know that it is an emotional journey for all of you. We strive to make this process as stress-free and seamless as possible and hope we can bring comfort, peace of mind and free up your time to deal with more pressing matters.

We have options that allow families to customize this process of dealing with the unsold items. Some families want to come in after the estate sale and offer the unsold items to family and extended family first, before the donation begins. Families can also choose to haul away remaining items themselves to save on additional fees.

You can pay us to box, load and haul away the remaining items for a fee to your favorite charity. We also have a charity we like to support in Rexburg that will come and pick up (selected items) to sale in their thrift shop the supports and funds women of abuse, and   recovery from addiction and help on the path to rebuild their lives. We ask for donation receipts from each organization to give to you for tax purposes and it also helps us track the number of loads that we have hauled away.
